On March 10, Faze Clan announced the signing of a second North American Apex squad which will compete in the Apex Legends Global Series Split Two.

FaZe’s resident streamer Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff, who has been with the organization since 2019, unveiled the new additions. Via his Twitter account, NICKMERCS disclosed that FaZe had signed two new gamers, Deeds and Rigo “Gent” Padilla, to their content creator team. The players who previously represented Tripods will continue to play under the team name in the NA ALGS Pro League Split Two.

Despite positive reactions to the news of the signings, there has been some concern over EA’s competitive rules. According to Complexity Gaming IGL, Bowen “Monsoon” Fuller, EA announced rules earlier concerning an organization having more than one team representing them competitively.

Monsoon also pointed out that the arrangement would likely affect FaZe, who already have an established team, and Tripod in the future. EA’s ALGS rules require any organizational conflict with ties to multiple squads representing one organization to be reported to them.

Tripods who intend to participate in the NA ALGS Pro League Split Two will likely remove FaZe’s tags from their display names for the duration of the tournament. Neither EA nor Respawn has officially addressed the situation.

NICKMERCS, Nathan “Lewda” Dias, and Deeds were part of Tripod’s original team when they were created in early 2022. The trio competed in the Split Two Challengers Circuit at the time, giving an impressive performance. They also received a direct invite to the ALGS after placing 10th in the NA Last Chance Qualifier.

Lewda was signed to fill in for the departed Lewda ahead of Split One. The team once again recorded impressive success on the first day of the Pro League. They placed 10th and wrapped up their run in Split One in 18th place. Tripods failed to qualify for the London Playoffs; however, the team held on to a spot for Split Two.

In the past, players who doubled as content creators were allowed to compete with a separate lineup. One such is TSM steamer Mac “Albralelie” Beckwith, who played for Cloud9 and Team Liquid. He usually took off TSM from his online handle while participating in tournaments.

Before the new season competition started, several organizations made significant changes to their roster, some even signing entirely new squads. In an earlier Twitter post, FaZe revealed that their new lineup was built around Eric “Snip3down” Wrona, who participated in the last Split.

Joseph “Frexs” Sanchez was also signed on the official roster as well as Josue “Phony” Ruiz as the team’s in-game leader. Phony previously played with Esports Arena, while Frexs was a part of SpaceStation Gaming’s lineup, which recently disbanded.

ALGS Split Two will kick off on March 11, and Tripods will begin their run on March 12. The team were placed in Group A and will face off against squads like TSM and FaZe Clan in Group C.
